Tomorrow's Orchestra Programme (TOPs)
subsidised lessons for beginners
TOPs is a beginner group tuition scheme aimed at Year 5 and 6 children in the three Wessex MAT middle schools. Whilst children in these schools can apply for beginner lessons on most instruments (see the information under 'instrumental lessons' tab), the TOPs programme is limited to a certain selection of instruments and is only available in small group lessons. The TOPs programme runs from September to July each year and all children must begin the scheme in September.
TOPs fee: £58 per term
Who's it for: children in Years 5 and 6
What's included?:
1. Ten small-group lessons per term (approx. 4 in a group)
2. Free Instrument hire (supported by the Dorset Music Hub)
3. Membership of one beginner Wessex Schools Music ensemble (Wednesdays 4-4.50pm at Thomas Hardye School) - it is not compulsory to join an ensemble, but the option is there for those who wish to.
Lessons will take place in school and will be taught by the members of the Wessex Schools Music team
If your child is in receipt of pupil premium funding, then your child's middle school is able to fund the complete cost of this programme.
Information about how to apply each year will be shared in the summer term each year. Applications for the 2024-25 academic year are now open: https://forms.gle/esRCuwRtuDhVNrmF8
