Sally Stell - 'Cello, Piano and Double Bass
Described as having ‘remarkable talent … imagination and great
facility’ by the world-renowned ‘cellist Johannes Goritzki, Sally is highly
respected as a chamber musician and soloist. Sally began her cello studies at
her childhood home in Dorset, and at the age of 12 she won a place at Chetham’s
School of Music in Manchester.
She was awarded a scholarship to study at the Guildhall School of Music and
Drama, and after graduating as the winner of a major ‘cello prize she studied
with Johannes Goritzki in Germany, where she appeared on live television and
performed for Chancellor Kohl. Sally played solo Bach for the late King of Tonga
at his personal request and has performed extensively throughout Britain and
Germany. Now settled in Dorset, Sally gives regular concerts with Dorchester
Piano Trio, and as a freelance cellist.
