Pippa Rans - Cello and Piano
Pippa Rans is a highly experienced cellist and has played with major orchestras across the country and internationally, including the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland and locally with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra.
Pippa has over twenty years' cello and piano teaching experience, and is passionate about passing on a love of music as well as a solid technique. She has a thriving private teaching practice, and has also taught in many schools, including Box Hill School Dorking, Townley Grammar School and Perrott Hill School. Pippa is experienced in preparing pupils for success in grade exams, competitions and entry into junior music colleges. She always attaches the greatest importance to the student's individual development, and their particular needs. Pippa enjoys working with students of all ages and abilities.
Pippa graduated with Distinction in the Postgraduate Diploma in Performance from Trinity College of Music in 2005, where she was a scholar studying with Lowri Blake and Joely Koos. She was principal cellist of the Symphony and Chamber Orchestras and won many prizes including the Classical Concerto and the Solo Bach Competition as well as gaining a place on the BBC Concert Orchestra’s mentor scheme. Pippa gained her undergraduate degree with Andrew Fuller at the University of Birmingham, where she performed the SaintSaëns Cello Concerto with the University Sinfonia as winner of the annual concerto competition.
