Phil Hardisty - Drums

Picture
I started playing drums growing up in Weymouth and went on to study Music and Sound Recording at the University of Surrey. After graduating in 2007 (1st class) I took on the drum chair on the UK and European Tour of Blood Brothers. Subsequently, I toured with many other shows including Evita, Jesus Christ Superstar and Ghost before settling in London with my family where I have played in the West-End, on BBC radio and many functions and recording sessions in different styles. I enjoy playing jazz and big band music as well as playing for theatre shows, recordings and functions.
As an educator, I have taught in many different contexts and can draw on my wealth of experience to create a programme of study relevant to each student. I have taught privately in my home studio and in secondary and primary schools for the past 14 years. This has included taking students through grades, from beginners through to grade 8. Lessons include a range of engaging activities to create excellent musicians. Warm-ups, technique, coordination, styles, notation and improvisation are all covered so you are prepared for any musical situation.
In addition to teaching drum kit, I teach classroom music in primary schools and in SEND settings. I have been part of the Surrey Arts SEND team for over 10 years and love teaching children and young people with additional needs.
